Can any eye doctor or vision center be used?   Yes   No The 20/20 Select Vision Program allows you to choose any vision care provider. However, the value of your benefits will be maximized by using a participation discount vision center. Your local vision center has agreed to charge only $40 per vision exam (the amount of your examination co-pay plus the benefit) and to substantially discount the cost of the lenses ad frames so your benefits will cover as much as possible. In addition, they have agreed to bill the administrator direct for the amount of the benefit.
Am I free to pick out the frames or lenses I want?   Yes   No Unlike most vision plans, you are free to choose whichever lenses and frames you want. you are not restricted to a limited selection of frames.
Can my vision discount be used on additional eye wear purchases?   Yes   No The discounts provided by the discount vision centers can be used for all your eye wear purchases, even if you are in a new benefit waiting period. Spare glasses, prescription sunglasses or any other eye wear needs are always substantially discounted when using participating vision centers.
Am I free to visit a vision center whenever I choose?   Yes   No (voucher required in advance) You may drop in to have your eyeglass prescription filled or call for a convenient appointment at your local vision center whenever you choose. Do I get a full one year warrant?   Yes   No When using a participating discount vision center, they will always provide you with their standard full year warranty. Many other vision plans will limit your warranty to 90 days.
Is the plan subject to regulatory oversight to prevent abuses?

Yes (in every state)

No (limited) 20/20 Select Vision is an insured vision benefit program that is subject to approval and regulation by the State Insurance Departments. Many of the other vision plans are so called pre-paid vision plans that escape this scrutiny.
If I have a problem I cant resolve, is there a third party I can appeal to?   Yes   No Yes, if you have a problem that cannot be resolved by working with the administrator, your sponsor's agent can appeal directly to the insurance company. Most other plans have no one else to appeal to.
Can I be assured of receiving a quality product?   Yes   No When using a participation vision center you are working with a provider who has been selected by the vision discount network through a careful screening process. All providers recognize the importance of providing a quality product to their customers. Not only are you free to choose whatever lens or frame you want, but your vision center works on carrying hight quality product. If a lens is made wrong, they won't hesitate to return it to the lab to be corrected. All too often, vision plans are controlled through a series of lab and providers whose focus is on filling your eye wear need in the cheapest manner possible. Slight imperfections in the grinding of the lenses or inferior quality frames are all too often accepted as business as usual by other vision plans.
